Neckties, which  are worn by anyone at any age, have many different ways of tie knots. Four of the most common tie knots are Four in Hand Knot, Pratt Knot, Half Windsor Knot, and the Windsor Knot. Found in this article is an instruction on how to tie one of the knots which is the Pratt Knot.

Neckties, which do not really have any function other than for decorative purposes are worn by anyone: boys, girls, men and even some women. Common Kinds of Necktie Knots

There are four necktie knots that are most commonly used. These are the Four in Hand Knot, Pratt Knot, Half Windsor Knot, and the Windsor Knot.  The first one is the four in hand knot. This necktie knot is actually a little asymmetrical, narrow and more discreet. It suits best for dress shirts that are standard button-down as well as for neckties that are created from thick  fabrics. Although, anyone can choose to use this tie knot, it is most effective for those with shorter necks. It creates an appearance of a little bit of  neck elongation because of its  style . The next one is the Pratt knot. It is also called  the Shelby knot and it makes knots that are clean and wide. It suits best for dress shirts and neckties that are wide and created from fabrics that are of light to medium textures. Another one is the Half Windsor Knot, which is  a humble variant of the Windsor Knot. It creates a tie knot that is symmetrical and triangular which can be used with any dress shirts. It conforms best with wider ties and whose fabrics are of light to medium textures. The last one is the Windsor Knot. This knot creates a wide, thick and triangular knot. This knot, being actually easy to do, exudes confidence as well. So, this is mostly the knot of choice for job interviews, presentations, courtroom appearances, among others. Just as this knot  can be used by anyone, those with longer necks are much more suited for  this style, because it creates an appearance of making the neck a little bit wider. Making a Pratt Knot

Start by placing the necktie inside-out around your neck. Make sure that the wide end is on your right side and the narrow end is on your left side. Adjust the length of both ends in such a way that the wider end is about 12 inches below the narrow end. Then, move the wide end to the left side under the narrow end. Next, bring the wide end over the narrow end, through the section where both ends  cross under your throat, to make a loop. Pull the wide end down and then tighten. Then, bring the wide end over the narrow end to the right side and  behind and above the loop. Finally, pass the wide end through the knot and then adjust and tighten.

For whatever reason that a man would wear a tie, there is no doubt of the effects that it would create for the person wearing it, which are seriousness and confidence.
